INTRODUCTION
Dr. Manalo is completing his fourth year as an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work. He enjoys the diversity in the student body at Cal State LA, which makes this campus an excellent place to learn.

TEACHING INTERESTS
Dr. Manalo teaches undergraduate courses, including introduction to social work, writing for social work, social work policy practice, and community organizing. At the graduate level, Dr. Manalo teaches in the macro sequence, including social work history, policy analysis, community organization, and administration & management.

RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Manalo's research interests include religious organizations and social services, teaching social work policy practice, and family support programs. He recently applied for a grant from the National Institutes of Health to study religious organizations and the provision of prevention services to HIV/AIDS clients. He has a number of publications and he has made presentations at professional events in these areas.
