POLS 550 has only one required textbook: Transitions to Democracy. However, I strongly urge students who have not taken POLS 373 to purchase and read Doing Comparative Politics on their own. All students will be expected to have mastered the material covered in Doing Comparative Politics. I have also ordered a number of other texts for the course. These are strictly OPTIONAL: Inklings of Democracy in China and Capitalist Development and Democracy. All books mentioned here can be purchased on Amazon.com.
