Eligibility

Applicants must be either U.S Citizens or U.S Permanent Residents.
Applicants with F-1 Visas are Not eligible.

The minimum requirement is an undergraduate student of sophomore standing or a student at a community college in the process of transferring to a four year program. Students are eligible up to their second year of graduate school.

Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in math, engineering, and science courses.

In addition, applicants must have one of the two requirements below:

1. Students must be majoring in a molecular life science-related field and have completed one C++ or object-oriented programming course.

OR

2. Students must be majoring in a computer science-related field and have completed one molecular life science course.

How To Apply

Step 01: Download and fill out the SoCalBSI Application.
Step 02: Write your Personal Statement.
Step 03: Write your Research Experience Statement.
Step 04: Send us all of your post high school Official Transcripts.
Step 05: Send at least two Letters of Faculty Recommendations.

If your official transcripts will not arrive by the deadline, you may send send us unofficial transcripts as place holders while the official copies arrive. Unofficial transripts may be sent via postal mail, email, or fax.
