The final exam will be composed of three of the following questions. The questions will be picked randomly on the day of the final. Each question is worth 33 pts.
1. Discuss in detail four methods of aging a human skeleton. Give examples. Be sure to discuss the pros and cons of each method, and its reliability.
2. Discuss in detail four methods of sexing a human skeleton. Use at least three skeletal elements in your discussion. Give examples. Be sure to discuss the pros and cons of each method, and its reliability.
3. Discuss in detail the cranial features thought to be indicative of "race." Table format is acceptable.
4. Discuss the science of forensic taphonomy in detail. Give the set of general "rules" used in determining time since death (pages 33-34 in your blue reader). Use examples when appropriate.
5. Discuss forensic archaeology in detail. When is a forensic archaeologist necessary? Why? What are some of the general "rules" discussed in class?
