Original Content Web Site Authoring and Development

  • The "Kids First Soccer" (http://www.kidsfirstsoccer.com) website expands on a previous site (Tips for Soccer Moms and Dads) and provides a very broad range of content related information for novice youth sport coaches. A substantial amount of praise about the site and its content comes from college professors, physical educators, authors of health and sports related texts, little league administrators at the regional and national levels, journalists, related content web site administrators and professionals, and coaches and youth sport parents. I have decided to create the site in 1997 following years of frustration with an adult centered approach to the organization and administration of youth sports. I decided to move my focus from lectures and workshops to relatively small audiences to the then still relatively new medium--the Internet. Despite my strong passion for technology I understood from the very beginning that regardless of the form for any communication system to be effective it has to have strong content. My background as an accomplished athlete, a certified coach in several sports, a trained educational sport psychologist, and a teacher of teachers, as well as my 10-year experience as a youth sports consultant at the Amateur Athletic Foundation, Los Angeles, and years spent both studying and coaching little league, are invested in this site. The Kids First Soccer website which was created, developed, and is maintained with no external support has received numerous citations of excellence and or endorsements and is advertised as "highly recommended" on several sport specific search engines. The Kids First Soccer site is regularly featured as one of the top 100 visited sites (out of over 9,000!) on the largest soccer search engine (soccer-sites.com), and during youth soccer season the site logs as many as 50 visitorss per hour as reported by a single search engine.
