  • Review of Pressure, Pull, & Strike Vulnerable Points.
  • Regular Outlet Stance: advance (shuffle forward), shuffle sideways, retreat shuffle and combination shuffles
  • Introduction of Modified Straight Punches (straight left, for right-handed individuals).

Week II (April 3rd)

Home (locks, answering machine, etc.); Out and About; Parking Lots (parking and returning to car); Public Transportation; While Driving; Elevators (entry and exit decisions)

  • Review of Outlet Stance (forward sideways and backward shuffle)
  • Stationary & in-Motion Straight Punches:
    a. Straight left punch (stationary, advance & retreat)
    b. Straight right punch (stationary, advance & retreat)
    c. Across the face right scratch (stationary, advance & retreat)

Week II (April 5th)

Establishing a Personal Self-Defense Comfort Zone:
How do I decide which defensive or offensive approach and/or response is appropriate ("works") for me?

Self-Defense Skills

  • Practice of Outlet Stance (forward sideways and backward shuffle)
  • Practice of Modified Straight Punches (straight left with heel of hand, right scratch, and combination).
  • Roundhouse and Uppercut Punches:
    a. Right roundhouse punch (stationary & advance)
    b. Right uppercut punch (stationary & advance)

Week III (April 10th)

The Art of De-escalation
Be sure to plan escape routes, as well as, continually assess and reassess your options, as you slide down the slippery slope of the three stages:
Stage I: Non-violent disengagement followed with firm communications
Stage II: Mild physical disengagement followed with firm communications
Stage III: Full-blown attack, attack, attack...along with screams for help

Self-Defense Skills

  • Releases: Wrist(s) or arm(s) (holds with one and/or two hands)
  • Releases: Choke Holds (pre-emptive, front/rear)
