One of the most intriguing things in Huexotla, was a group of Tequitqui cartoon-like scratchings made in a wall of the cloister. Dr. Karl Butzer saw them in 1993 and photographed them. They represent an example of colonial graffiti! These scratchings-drawings show in a naive form how the indigenous people perceived the alien image of the Spaniards and their culture. They depicted a strange dress style with baggy trousers and hats, the horses and the devil. These amazing drawings show the spirit of a people experiencing a psycho-social conflict of cultural accommodation.
