Sanctity (holiness) of matrimony and punishments of its profanation.
The first tree illustration let us know that matrimony is holy (sacred), because God is the author. The second tree on the contrary, manifest the way in which infidelity of married couples is punished. Infidelity leads to hell.
The bottom portion shows the different punishments for men and women. A man is tied to a pole. Spears and arrows strike his body. Indians stone a woman tied to a pole. Throwing stones on adulterers was a Nahua Indian custom.
