| The Map of Teozacoalco (1580) is considered one of the greatest discoveries for many reasons. Alfonso Caso (a prominent investigator of the Mixtec Codices since the 1940's until 1970) is credited for his findings in the study of its content. Caso, on this geographical document found a Rosetta Stone, which will be very useful for the deciphering of Mixtec Codices. The map contains glyphs and written explanations of the alphabet. The written explanations and the alphabet allowed Caso to situate time and space registered in Mixtec Codices. |
