The tripartite writing of Juan Gerson is an exposition of the Christian Doctrine about the commandments, the confession and the art of being well prepared for death.

A brief translation and content of the Tripartite reads as foUow; 'Tripartite of the Chrístían and consolatory Dr. Juan Gerson on the Chrístían Doctríne: for anyone beneficial. Translated from Latin into Castilian language for the benefit of many and necessity of others. Printed in Mexico in the house of Juan Cromberger. By commission and on behalf of the Archbishop of the same city (Mexico) Fray Juan Zumarraga. Revised and examined by his mandate. Year of 1544."

Juan Gerson (1363- 1429) was a French churchman and theologian. His efforts to settle the Great Schism and his writings on contemplation gave him great recognition. Part of his ideals was to obtain the right to vote for church reformation, and for a better education of the doctors of theology as well as bishops. Besides writing on speculative and mystical theology, he was one of the greatest preachers of his day.
