The representations in these two carved jaguar bones from tomb 7 in Monte Alban are calendrical and historical in meaning. We can see a ball game scene probably related to mythic-historical events of the Late Post-Classic period. These kind of carved bones were used as a baton, which was a sign of authority. They were sometimes perforated at one of its extremities to allow the ruler to wear them as necklaces.
