The eagle plays an especially prominent role in the religion of Postclassic Central Mexico. In both Central Mexican and Mixtec writing , it appers as 15th day name, corresponding to the Maya day Men. Rendered with a large feather chest, it is probably the harpy rather than the golden eagle. In both writing and art, it is frequently fringed with flint blades.
