The tablero of the Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent contains no niches or recessed panels but is surmounted by a flaring cornice, typical of El Tajin. The talud is carved in reliefs depicting feathered serpents with undulating bodies that wind between Maya-like figures that some consider Chontal.
