| Cacaxtla does not present the ordinary layout of a planned ceremonial center. Archaeologists have identified five phases of construction with numerous renovations and alterations. A distinctive feature is the elongated constructions entered through a series of doorways between rectangular pillars. These were not rooms but long galleries surrounding patios connected by passageways and short staircases leading from one level to the next. | ||
