| Pakal married wife Lady Ahpo Hel and in the year AD 626, she took her title. Kan Xul II accession was in AD 702 and in AD 711 he was captured by Ruler 3 of Tonina and eventually sacrificed. Pakal was Kan Xul II's father. Chac was the god of lightning and could appear in many different aspects, one of which is Chak-Xib-Chak ("Red-Young-Chak"). Kings frequently portrayed themselves in the guise of Chak or wore him behind their legs suspended on a chain. Chak was also a title that could be carried by lords and by other gods. Chak cracked open the Cosmic Turtle with lightning so that the Maize God could be reborn. |
