Two "pot-belly" sculptures of Chabij or Bijac phase manufacture were found buried underneath Copan Stelae 4 and 5 (erected in the Late Classíc), indicatíng that sculpture carving did take place at Copan in the Late Preclassíc or Early Classic. An inscription on Stelae 4 and 1 cite an event which occurred in AD 159 that may have to do with the founding of Copan as a kingdom.
