| References to the 8.6.0.0.0. 10 Ahau 13 Ch'en (159 AD) Period Ending in Copan are found on Stelae 1, 4 and 17. Stela 1 also refers to the emblem-glyph of Copan in assocíation with a date 200 days later, leading Linda Schele to believe that thís date was associated with the founding of the kingdom. One intriguíng aspect of the hístorical record ís that later monuments show that Yax K'uk Mo' was not the first ruler of Copan, although he was the founder of the most famous dynasty. On Stela 1, the 7th ruler states that Yax K'uk Mo' was himself the "successor of Smoke Codex God K". |
