The Staírway of the Jaguars is a wonderful example of Late Classic sculpture at Copan. It is an assemblage of architectural sculpture. The Jaguar Stairway is on the west side of the court, the initial version of which was built over a well preserved royal tomb dated to the mid-síxth century. Thís monument was carved duríng the reign of 18 Rabbit, who seems to have begun using the Great Plaza for his commemorative monuments.
