As at Tikal, sculpture and hieroglyphic texts associated with public buildings record the achievements of the great rulers, but at Copan their style is quite dístinctive. Archítectural decoration feature very deep relief. Costumes and other pictorial details are very elaborate. The overall effect is almost florid.
