Temple II has elaborated masks, now mostly destroyed, flanking the central stairway. The temple building has three vaulted rooms. Temple II's decorative roof comb depicts a huge face. On special occasions priests or lords must have come out of the temple onto the great stone platform juttíng from the stairway to review activities in the plaza below, to address the populace, or to perform ceremonies in full view of the crowd assembled there.
