Temple I has níne superímposed terraces that form the steep pyramid that supports the temple, reached by a single majestic stairway. The intricate insets and moldings of the terraces form a field for the play of light and shadow. The temple building has three high, narrow, vaulted rooms wíth carved wooden líntels spanníng the ínner doorways.
