Pottery objects of Late Classic manufacture run a gamut from crude everyday objects to real works of art. Among the latter are the fantastic incense burners consisting of tall, hollow tubes modeled with the figures or heads of gods, particularly the Jaguar God of the Underworld, and sometimes placed one on top of the other like Alaskan totem poles. Vertical flanges were placed on either side, and the whole painted in reds, ochers, blue, and white, after firing.
