If we observe carefully, we have in Chalcatzingo a cleft mountain that is partially submerged. It presents three rocky protrusions: the two peaks called "Cerro Delgado" and "Cerro Gordo o de la Cantera" (Thick or Sandstone Mount) that are the connection points with Heaven; and a small rock saddle called the "Portezuelo" which was considered a Portal to the Underworld, the dwelling of the Ancestors.

Although it is still in the highlands, the state of Morelos located south of the Valley of Mexico, is warm and even subtropical, and might well have proved attractive for the Olmec.
